Saltlake Peaks Amateur Radio Club (SPARC) is planning on participating in Field Day. We will be setting up our station North then East side of Unisys’ Building B (about 420 North 2200 West). If anyone is interested in participating with us all are welcome (even non-licensed).
Members of the local CSW Saltlake Peaks Amateur Radio Club (SPARC) are participating in an annual simulated emergency event to demonstrate that often, “Ham radio works when other systems don’t!” in disasters like Hurricane Katrina.
If anyone, including outside family and friends, has ever wondered what makes Radio Amateurs tick, this event would be an opportunity to find out and to learn how to become one of these ‘strange creatures’ themselves - and to experience ‘getting on the air’ if so desired.
The particulars are:
Place: Grassy area on the north then east side of UNISYS building ‘B’. Time: Begins at 11 A.M local time on Saturday, June 28, 2008 and ends at 11 A.M. local time on Sunday, June 29.
You can visit anytime (even at 2 A. M.!) during the 24-hour period.
Volunteers, Hams or otherwise are welcome to help in this fun endeavor.
Contact Lloyd Taylor (x3749) for additional information regarding this event or to obtain help in becoming a Radio Amateur.
